Check out this thread! Does any one know of any applicable laws/regulations/statutes that can help out? Let me know.

Hey,

We have our first all members meeting tomorrow night. I don't expect a huge turn out this time, but I am looking for ideas regarding how to get our name out there and build interest. We're co-hosting a concert on the second, so I know that will help, but I think I may need to find a few more subtle (cheaper) ways to do PR. If you have any ideas, send them my way.

Hi! I'm Kristine, and I'll be your moderator here in shrm. I am a Senior at Central Washington University. My major is Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resource Management. I am VP of Merit for the CWU Student Chapter of SHRM, as well as the Washington State/NHRMA HR Games Champion. (My other 2 teammates are gone, so I'm all alone! But I will be back with 2 new teammates, so look out!) The CWU Student Chapter has been a "Top-10" Chapter for the last several years, and I am looking forward to carrying that on this year. I plan to take the PHR exam in the spring. After I graduate in June, I will go on to get a Master's Degree in HRM from the University of Hawaii. After that, my hope is to return to the Pacific Northwest and work in HR until I retire or die. :)

edit: I should also mention that I am a "non-traditional student", which means that I am 35, married and have 2 little ones. Naw, I don't like a challenge much...

I've been giving this some thought for a while now. There are quite a few HR students and professionals out there in LJ-land. There are a few HR communities, but there was not one that is dedicated to SHRM. Now there is! :)

Join, and share your thoughts on administering your chapter, winning the merit award, competing in or volunteering at HR Games, networking opportunities, whatever...as long as it pertains to SHRM or HR.
